Women?s Car Insurance

For many years there has been an ongoing debate as to whether women are in fact better drivers then men. Sadly for women it would seem that this is probably not the case, but it would be impossible to deny that women do not have as many serious accidents as men. Women are also less likely to make a claim on their insurance and if they do it will more then likely not be as expensive or for anything more serious then a bump, scrape or minor damage. It has also been shown that generally women do not drive the long distances that men do and have a lower mileage and the lower your mileage is then the lower you will find your premiums to be.Women?s car insurance tends to be cheaper, particularly for young women as they are deemed to be a lower risk by car insurance companies due to their differing driving habits to men. Women also tend to drive more cautiously than men, incurring fewer speeding fines and accumulating far less points on their license. It is therefore no wonder that many insurance companies are creating offshoot companies that are designed to specifically target female drivers as they will be much simpler to insure and less likely to make a big claim.

In the past, the big insurance companies have offered low cost rates for women; but as they will also offer insurance to men, they will still have to set aside money for claims made by men. Therefore many car insurance companies have begun to create separate companies to target female consumers so that they can then offer them even better deals. By achieving this it means that the benefits can be given back by giving women cheaper car insurance quotes and premiums. Specialist women's car insurance companies, such as Sheila?s Wheels and Ladybird, will very often include benefits especially for female drivers as an enticement, such as cover for your handbag and purse. Sadly for men there is no such type of specialized and cheap insurance for them but they can still benefit from the insurance deals that are aimed at women such as their wife, partner or girlfriend as they can be added as a named driver on a woman?s insurance policy. This will quite often be a lot cheaper than having a man having a policy of their own, so make sure you look into this carefully and grab yourself a great benefit. If you currently have a policy of your own then you may be surprised to learn that by adding a female partner as an additional driver, this could reduce the cost of your policy.

Despite women being currently listed as safer drivers and still having low cost claims, there has been some evidence to suggest that women are becoming more aggressive drivers and more prone to road rage. This has not however been statistically proven and until this is the case, insurers will continue to give reduced premiums for women?s car insurance.
